I’ve been trying to make a silverlight mail client for a while

No one who read’s this will probably care but I’m putting it out there anyways. I have my website that keeps track of my projects and I’ve been having this idea for a silverlight web mail for a while. I KNEW that someone would beat me to it. Of course I was right and at MIX 2008 or something AOL released its new RIA web mail app… My problem? I can even test mine let alone compete with that app. Right now I have trouble just testing the project.

But It’s there! I’ve been working on it for ages it seems now.

I’ll even show a screenshot to prove it.

The Login page for my RIA. Doesn’t work right now since I’m just using hardcoded values to test on my own email right now.

This is the view mail page. I admit its pretty simple and not very fun to look at but it’s good to get the idea going first.

It shows in the list box the status and says “Error(s)” and talks about the error stopping me from putting this bad boy in to public beta or anything.

This is showing the Visual studio window with my project and all of its many projects that are needed for this project. The window with the RIA is the back.

I have also put water marks to make SURE that no one gets the idea of photoshoping this and actually being able to create a legit image to say they created it first.

The website was made after the idea took place but even the date of the one on the website is significant because its WAY before the MIX 08 and I’m pretty far along aren’t  I?

New Silverlight Blog feed

It’s on my website on the blog page. You might have come here from that very silverlight app and you didn’t even realize it! Maybe some people noticed a possible pause while the page loaded then the feed showed. some might have though, wow this is pretty sweet site cause it looks pretty nice and it works well. Some didn’t have silverlight installed and just found out this exsisted.
Anyways The app is running and I think it runs pretty good for my first public silverlight app. More will soon follow as I finish more complex projects and while I learn more about Silverlight and WCF services.

Edit:POC ASP.NET server control can’t load the freaking silverlight app when its deployed. Sorry everyone! And for everyone who wants to know how to make one of these once its finnaly shown. Go to silverlight.net and then go to learn and watch the video on using RSS and syndication in silverlight.

New silverlight blog feed

Personal thought about some major companies…(Coke, Microsoft, McDonads etc..)

You know I was talk to my dad the other day and reading on the internet the same stuff I read from Linux website and window websites and mac websites… All of them.
That one is better than the other and why linux hates windows… BLA BLA BLA WHOLE other topic but just giving you background to see how I thought this somewhat weird idea up.

I began to think why they hated micrsoft so much and the first thing that came to mind was because they were big and didn’t listen to their customers.
Then I remembered how people bad mouth companies like Wal-Mart and McDonalds. then I thought about coke since it was the same subject and I was drinking one…

And it came to me…. Why is coke so loved? I mean coke has put COCAINE in its drinks to addict people to it. They have had marketing ploys to trick people into buying coke like with the original coke thing. When the people wanted original coke back so they put the new coke in a different can and they bought that. They the one i thought was so cunning and mainpulating was the Sub-limonal messages in movies and shows to make you want coke(Now illegal I believe)

So my thought in full now is “Why isn’t coke out there as a company people ‘despise’ or ‘boycott’? They don’t drink coke because of their health but doesn’t mean they don’t like coke the company or anything.”

Just an idea i had and wanted to put out there because its been bugging me for 2 days now to put it up but haven’t had the time.

Update:And additional thought i forgot to add here is that one reason people dislike these companies is their size and influence. Coke is pretty influential don’t you think? so is McDonald’s yet McDonald’s is disliked by many and coke… the pretty little(not really little, but you know what I mean) angel who gives us these wonderful line of drinks called soda which I drink like water… lol
